The second quarter-final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 is being played between Uttar Pradesh and Saurashtra. Saurashtra won the toss and elected to bowl first. Batting first, Uttar Pradesh scored 310 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs. Abhishek Goswami and Sameer Rizvi appeared as the star performers for the team.

Abhishek Goswami and Aryan Juyal opened the innings for Uttar Pradesh in this match. Aryan was dismissed without opening his account. Rituraj Sharma and Rinku Singh also failed to make a significant impact. However, amidst the flop performance of the top-order batsmen, Goswami held his ground from the other end, scoring 88 runs off 82 balls, just short of a century. He hit 12 fours during his innings.

Coming in at No. 6, Sameer Rizvi formed small partnerships with Prashant Veer, Vipraaj Nigam, and Zeeshan Ansari. Rizvi batted until the last over, finishing unbeaten on 88 off 77 balls. He hit 12 boundaries, including 10 fours and two sixes. Sameer Rizvi will be playing for the Delhi Capitals this IPL season. He is currently in excellent form ahead of the IPL.

Thanks to excellent innings from Abhishek and Sameer, Uttar Pradesh set a target of 311 runs for Saurashtra. Saurashtra’s bowling performance saw Chetan Sakaria take three wickets for 54 runs in 10 overs. Ankur Panwar and Prerak Mankad each took two wickets.

It remains to be seen which team wins this match and secures a place in the semi-finals. A total of 32 teams participated in the tournament, of which eight made it to the knockout rounds.
