India got a swift win against West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahemdabad. India made brilliant display in all round aspects. During the match, KL Rahul and team India’s Test team captain Shubman Gill celebrated a moment of joy by dancing.

KL Rahul and Shubman Gill performed brilliantly in the first innings of the Ahmedabad Test. Opening the innings, Rahul reached his 10th Test century, while Gill scored his seventh half-century. During the match, Rahul scored 100 runs in 197 balls at a strike rate of 50.76, while Gill, batting at number four, managed to score 50 runs in 100 balls at a strike rate of 50.00. After West Indies were bundled out for 162 in their first innings, India declared their innings at 448/5. Three Indian batsmen scored centuries, while Shubman Gill managed a half-century.

India got easy win over West Indies

The three batsmen who scored centuries were KL Rahul (100), wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel (125) and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (104 not out). Riding on superb bowling from Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj, India defeated the West Indies by an innings and 140 runs on the third day of the first Test. India declared their first innings at 448 for five before the start of the day’s play, taking a 286-run lead. The West Indies failed to bat for two full sessions, collapsing for 146 in their second innings. India thus took a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.

 

Poor batting by West Indies

The West Indies batting was poor in both innings, and the Indian team dominated all three days. Alika Athanaze top-scored for the West Indies in the second innings with 38, followed by Justin Greaves with 25, Jayden Seales with 22, Johan Lane with 14, John Campbell with 14, Tegnarayan Chanderpaul with 8, Brandon King with 5, Roston Chase with 1, and Shai Hope with 1. Khary Pierre remained unbeaten on 13.
