Mohammed Shami has made everyone stunned in the Ranji Trophy 2025 since his first match of the season. After bowling brilliantly in the first round, he’s wreaking havoc with his fiery deliveries in the second round as well. Shami has taken 15 wickets so far and has sent a powerful message to the selectors with his lethal bowling. However, in addition to his bowling, Shami also achieved something in the matches against Bengal and Gujarat that has earned him widespread praise.
In fact, a photo of Shami after the match is going viral on social media. In the photo, Shami is seen embracing Gujarat batsman Urvil Patel and praising him for his brilliant innings. Shami’s gesture was well-received by fans on social media. Urvil fought alone for Gujarat in the second innings and scored a century.
Urvil faced 124 balls and scored an unbeaten 109, including 16 fours. In the second innings, Gujarat were all out for 185, 109 of which came from Urvil’s bat. This means the other batsmen combined for just 76 runs.

Shami played a crucial role in Bengal’s one-sided victory. He bowled brilliantly in the first innings, taking three wickets. However, the Indian fast bowler was particularly in good form in the second innings. Shami dismissed five Gujarat batsmen in the second innings. In his 10-over spell, he took 5 wickets for just 38 runs. Gujarat’s batsmen easily succumbed to Shami’s lethal bowling. Riding on the bowlers’ impressive performance, Bengal defeated Gujarat by a massive 141 runs.
Ajit Agarkar said Mohammed Shami is not fit
Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami has been out of the Indian team since the 2025 Champions Trophy. He played a key role in India’s title win with his stellar performance, but since then he has been consistently overlooked. Whether it’s the England tour or the Australia tour, Shami hasn’t found a place in Team India. Questions are constantly being raised about his fitness. Indian chief selector Ajit Agarkar recently said in a statement that Shami is not fit and hence is out of the team. Meanwhile, Shami, who is away from Team India, has been creating a stir with his bowling in the Ranji Trophy and is consistently performing brilliantly.
