There’s some relief for Team India. Captain Shubman Gill will travel with the team to Guwahati for the second Test. Gill recently suffered a neck spasm, which had cast doubt on his availability. The BCCI medical team is continuously monitoring his condition. Although he is traveling with the team, a final decision on his participation in the second Test will be made the day before the match.

Shubman Gill will travel to the next venue

According to media reports that the team management is currently reluctant to take any risks and is exercising caution regarding Gill’s fitness. With India already facing the challenge of African spinners in the second Test, the captain’s availability will be crucial for the team combination. It’s worth noting that the Indian team suffered a major setback in the Kolkata Test against South Africa when captain Shubman Gill retired hurt after scoring just 4 runs in the first innings. After playing a shot, Shubman felt a cramp in his neck and left the field.

What happened that day?

Following the end of the second day’s play (November 15) in the Kolkata Test, the Indian captain was taken to Woodlands Hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as a precautionary measure. He underwent scans and a thorough medical examination. He was later discharged from the hospital.

Shubman Gill was unable to bat in the second innings due to a neck injury. India had to chase 124 runs in the Kolkata Test, but fell 30 runs short of the target.

Without the service of Shubman Gill, the captain and one of the pillars of team India, their batting order performed very poorly in both phases of the match vs South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The target was small, but India could not achieved the target without Gill.
