A significant news has arrived regarding the rape charges on Haider Ali. The board, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a massive step regarding the issue. This decision by the governing body will help the cricketer.
Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali has been cleared of rape charges. Following the clean chit, the PCB has lifted the ban imposed on him, meaning he will now be able to resume his cricketing career.
What was the issue ?
Haider Ali was accused of rape in Manchester in August this year, following which the Pakistan Cricket Board banned him from playing until the investigation was complete. Haider Ali has not played any competitive cricket since September. However, he is now among nine Pakistani cricketers who have been granted permission to play in the Bangladesh Premier League. Ali, who played 35 T20 Internationals and 3 ODIs for Pakistan, was on a tour of England with the Pakistan Shaheen team (Pakistan A) when a British-born Pakistani woman filed a rape complaint against him with the Manchester city police.
Manchester Police closed the case on September 25, saying they did not find enough evidence to take the case to court or arrest the cricketer. Now, after the investigation into the matter has been fully completed, the PCB has also lifted the ban imposed on Haider Ali. Following the lifting of the ban by the Pakistan Cricket Board, Haider Ali will be seen playing in the Bangladesh Premier League for the first time. Along with him, nine other players have been granted NOCs by the PCB to play in the BPL, including Mohammad Nawaz, Abrar Ahmed, Sahabzada Farhan, Faheem Ashraf, Hussain Talat, Khawaja Nafe, and Ehsanullah.
However, the PCB has refused to grant a NOC to out-of-favour batsman Umar Akmal. Akmal has sought an explanation from the board.
