Latest update related to Shubman Gill’s injury has arrived. As per reports , his participation in the ODI series against South Africa appears unlikely due to a neck injury. The right-handed batsman’s participation in the ODI series between India and South Africa, which begins on November 30, is doubtful.
Shubman Gill Injury Update
Reports indicate that Shubman Gill’s neck injury isn’t limited to a sprain. He desperately needs rest. Consequently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is in no rush to his return. Gill is in Mumbai, undergoing medical tests to determine the severity of his injury. Currently, Indian selectors are hoping for Gill to play in the T20 series against South Africa.
With Shubman Gill out of the ODI series against South Africa, the selectors may hand over the captaincy of the Indian team to Rishabh Pant. Rishabh Pant is leading the Indian team after Shubman Gill was ruled out of the Guwahati Test. Star cricketer KL Rahul’s name is also being considered for the captaincy of the Indian ODI team. KL Rahul’s claim appears to be strong in this matter, as Rishabh Pant has played only one ODI in a year.
Who can be the openers?
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma are expected to open the innings for the Indian team in the ODI series against South Africa. Abhishek Sharma could be selected as a reserve opener. Jasprit Bumrah could be rested. Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshit Rana could be included as fast bowlers in the team.
The three-match ODI series between India and South Africa begins on November 30th. The first match between the two teams will be played in Ranchi. The two teams will then face each other on December 3rd. The final match of the ODI series will be played in Visakhapatnam on December 6th.
