Sakat Chauth Vrat 2026 Today: The Sakat Chauth fast is being observed on January 6, 2026. The Chaturthi (fourth) day of the Magha month is called Sankashti Chaturthi. This day is also known as Til Chaturthi or Maghi Chaturthi. On Sakat Chauth, there is a tradition of worshipping Lord Ganesha, Sakat Mata, and Chandra Dev (the Moon God). It is believed that this fast is observed primarily to protect and promote the long life of children and to bring peace and happiness to the family. Today is also special because the Chaturthi tithi (lunar day) falls in an auspicious yoga (planetary combination), which will further enhance the benefits of the puja (worship). On Sakat Chauth, devotees observe a fast, worship Lord Ganesha, and break their fast after offering Arghya (water offering) to the moon. Significance of Sakat Chauth
According to religious beliefs, Goddess Parvati observed the Sakat Chauth fast for Lord Ganesha. It is said that mothers who observe this fast according to the prescribed rituals and customs have all the troubles of their children removed, and peace and happiness prevail in the family, along with receiving the special blessings of Lord Ganesha. Seeing the moon at night is mandatory during the Sakat Chauth fast; the fast is broken only after offering Arghya to the moon.

Sakat Chauth 2026 Auspicious Time
The Chaturthi tithi will begin at 8:01 AM on January 6th and continue until 6:52 AM on January 7th. Therefore, based on the Udaya Tithi (the tithi at sunrise), the Sakat Chauth festival will be observed on January 6th. The moonrise will be at 8:54 PM tonight.
