New Delhi: Ever since the municipal council election results were announced in Maharashtra, new political alliances have been forming and dissolving. News of an improbable alliance had sent political temperatures soaring across the country. Following the election results in the Ambernath Municipal Council in Thane district of Maharashtra, local leaders of the BJP and Congress initially allied.
However, this alliance quickly collapsed. The Congress party took strong action, completely dissolving its local unit and suspending all 12 of its councillors. Now, all 12 of these suspendedcouncillorss have joined the BJP.

Late Wednesday night, BJP state president Ravindra Chavan officially announced that thescouncillorsrs had joined the party. After the election results were declared on December 20, thecouncillorsors had formed an alliance with the BJP, creating the Ambernath Vikas Aghadi (Ambernath Development Front). This led to the Congress party taking strong action and suspending them.
