In the northeastern states, temperatures are also being recorded below freezing in most places. The mountains are covered in a blanket of snow.

The situation continues to worsen. There is also a risk of avalanches. Rain continues in many parts of the southern states. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted cold waves in several areas and rain in some places.
