Monsoon Update: Despite the monsoon ending in 2025, rain continues to fall across many states. Meanwhile, winter has also arrived, prompting people to wear warm clothing. While heavy rains have been observed across most of the country, torrential rains are still ongoing in several states. In its latest bulletin, the India Meteorological Department has issued a warning for torrential rains in several states from November 29th to 30th. Cyclone Ditwa has caused significant damage in Sri Lanka.
The India Meteorological Department predicts that Cyclone Ditwa will once again alter the weather. Heavy to heavy rainfall is expected in many areas, and it may make landfall in India within the next 24 hours. The storm is expected to bring heavy to heavy rain to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry between November 28th and 30th. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema may experience hefty rainfall from November 29 to December 1.
Heavy Rain Warning in These States
According to the India Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is expected in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry from November 28 to 30 due to Cyclone Ditwa. In addition, an alert has been issued for heavy rain in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema from November 29 to December 1. Rainfall and strong winds are also expected in many areas.
Possibility of a Severe Storm
The Meteorological Department predicts that Cyclone Senyar, which has formed in the southwest Bay of Bengal, may move north-northwestward toward adjacent Sri Lanka within the next few hours. Furthermore, it is highly likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm within a few hours. It is then very likely to move north-northwestward across the southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Sri Lankan coast, towards the coasts of northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and adjoining southern Andhra Pradesh over the next 48 hours.
Dense Fog and Cold Wave Warning
According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog is likely to prevail in the morning and evening hours in some areas of Himachal Pradesh and Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi from November 28 to 30. Dense fog may also prevail in eastern Rajasthan from November 30 to December 1. Dense fog may also occur in some areas of Punjab on November 28 and 29. A cold wave is likely to prevail in Rajasthan from December 3 to 4.
