Monsoon Update – Heavy Rainfall and Storm Alert in These States for the Next 3 Days

New Delhi: Rising temperatures have already begun to heat most parts of India. The first week of March has already brought back memories of the heat of May. Snowfall continues to linger in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Kashmir, with temperatures still below freezing in many places.

This seems to be causing considerable distress. Temperatures are steadily rising in the plains. Yesterday was sunny in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, where the heat made people sweat.

Late-night rains in several areas of South India brought pleasant weather. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted rain in several states across the country. Details about the weather conditions can be found below.

Rainfall is likely in these states

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is likely to deteriorate in the hilly states due to a western disturbance. Scattered to light rain and snowfall are expected in Jammu and Kashmir until March 11th. Additionally, severe thunderstorms and lightning are expected between March 7 and 11.

An alert has been issued for scattered light rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh from March 7 to 11, and in Uttarakhand from March 8 to 11. The heat in the plains is now posing a different kind of challenge for the mountains in the form of a cold wave.

Rain alert with thunderstorms and storms

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for severe thunderstorms and storms, not just heat and snowfall, for the eastern states as well. Rain alerts have been issued for several areas of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Bihar until March 11.

Strong winds with gusty winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour are expected here. A warning for thunderstorms and lightning has also been issued for Northeast India.

This week is expected to be quite volatile in terms of weather. Be prepared to face this strange cocktail of humidity, snow, and storms.

Severe Heat Alert

According to the Meteorological Department, scorching heat and humidity have made life difficult for people in many parts of the country. The IMD has clarified that some parts of the Konkan region may experience a severe heatwave on March 5th. Extremely hot and humid weather is expected in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, coastal Gujarat, and Konkan. Temperatures in parts of interior Maharashtra may gradually increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next 24 hours.
