Milk price: Is milk price to rise soon? Amid the ongoing tension in the Middle East and the impact on the supply chain, milk prices have recently seen a rise in many states of the country. Meanwhile, Mother Dairy, India’s leading fresh milk supplier, has clarified that it has no intention of increasing the retail prices of milk at present. The company gave this information on Tuesday. On May 14, the company had increased the price of milk by Rs 2 per liter to partially compensate for the rising costs. This increase was done after almost a year.
The company’s statement came out
Mother Dairy Chairman Meenesh Shah stated that the milk supply situation is currently good and milk procurement from farmers is normal, so there are no plans to increase prices right now. However, he clarified that if future costs increase and it becomes difficult to cover expenses, prices may be reconsidered.
Meenesh Shah has indicated that the milk production landscape in the country is quite positive. Even though the IMD predicts a below-normal monsoon, significant fodder supply challenges are not anticipated. While certain states might face difficulties, these can be offset by supplies from other areas.
Projected Growth in Milk Production
According to Meenesh Shah, this financial year could see the country’s milk production rise by 4-6 percent compared to last year’s roughly 250 million tons. This suggests that fulfilling the increasing demand for dairy products will be manageable for the next 10-15 years. Mother Dairy reports that milk procurement costs have risen by about 6 percent over the last year. The company allocates around 75-80 percent of its milk sales revenue back to farmers.
Company Performance and Business Overview
Founded in 1974, Mother Dairy has announced a 17 percent growth in FY26, boosting its turnover to ₹20,300 crore. This growth has been fueled by robust demand for milk products and cooking oil. The company operates nine milk processing facilities and four processing plants for horticultural products. In the oil sector, it runs through 16 subsidiaries.
