New Delhi: Dense fog has brought life to a standstill in most parts of Western Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, including Delhi-NCR. The fog has made life difficult for people. Dense fog blankets the plains and mountainous regions of North India, causing difficulties for commuters.
The cold wave has broken all records in the northeastern states as well. In addition, light rain in some parts of South India late at night has led to a drop in temperature, making the weather pleasant. There is also a risk of rain in the hilly states of North India today, January 6th. The skies are overcast. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain in various parts of the country.

Rain Alert in These States
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is expected in several states on January 6th. A report suggests that Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand may experience thunderstorms and lightning. The intensity of rainfall is expected to be higher in the higher altitude areas.
A rain warning has been issued for the high-altitude areas of Doda, Budgam, and Shopian in Kashmir. Rain is expected in Chamba, Hothang, Kinnaur, and Manali in Himachal Pradesh. Several parts of Uttarakhand are likely to experience frost.

Several parts of Tamil Nadu in South India may experience rainfall. Light rain is expected in scattered areas of Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. Puducherry may experience drizzle.
Delhi Weather
According to the IMD, the effects of the cold wave and dense fog are likely to intensify further in Delhi. Sunshine is expected in the afternoon on Tuesday. A warning has been issued to be extremely cautious while travelling in the morning. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 17 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature could be around 7 degrees Celsius.

Uttar Pradesh Weather
The IMD has predicted dense fog to continue in Uttar Pradesh on January 6th as well. According to the IMD, a cold wave is expected in Gorakhpur, Deoria, Prayagraj, Kanpur, and Ayodhya. The meteorological department has also predicted a sharp drop in temperature and intense cold in Etawah, Lucknow, Agra, Muzaffarnagar, Barabanki, Bijnor, and Saharanpur.
