Delhi Earthquake: An earthquake was felt in the national capital and surrounding areas early Monday morning, January 19th. The tremors were felt at 8:44 AM. People reported that the tremors were strong enough to shake walls, windows, and beds. Many people were asleep when their beds suddenly started shaking, causing panic and prompting them to rush out of their homes. The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) confirmed that the earthquake was felt in Delhi.
According to initial reports, the earthquake was of light to moderate intensity, estimated at 3.0-4.0 on the Richter scale. However, it was felt strongly in Sonipat and surrounding areas, including parts of Rohtak and Jhajjar. Local residents reported feeling quite strong tremors.

The epicenter was in North Delhi.
According to official information from the National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake in Delhi occurred at 8:44 AM with a magnitude of 2.8 on the Richter scale. The epicentre was in North Delhi, at a shallow depth of only 5 kilometres below the surface.

It is worth noting that the Delhi-NCR region falls under Zone 4 (highly seismic zone). This tremor is believed to have been caused by local fault lines (such as the Delhi-Meerut fault or those associated with the Aravalli Range).
The tremors caused panic in several areas of Delhi-NCR for a short time, and many rushed out of their homes in fear.
