ED against online betting
The Enforcement Directorate, i.e., ED, has intensified the action to crack down on illegal online betting platforms. Not only this, but the investigation work is also going on fast. In such cases, the ED is also focusing its attention on the advertisements of betting platforms by film personalities and cricketers.
Along with this, as part of the ongoing investigation into the matter of advertising for banned betting platforms 1xBet, FairPlay, Parimatch and Lotus365, the ED has earlier questioned former cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh as well as actors Sonu Sood and Urvashi Rautela.
Notices have been issued to many celebrities.
According to ED sources, these betting platforms are using pseudonyms like 1xbat and 1xbettt Sporting Lines in their advertisements. These advertisements contain QR codes, which send users to betting sites. Anyway, this is considered a blatant violation of Indian law.
Notices have also been sent by the ED to some celebrities who advertise for such betting platforms. The report said that these platforms often promote themselves as skill-based gaming platforms, but they carry out activities like illegal betting using fake algorithms.
