OnePlus is apparently planning one of their biggest flagship overhauls yet with the upcoming OnePlus 16. The latest leaks coming out of China point towards the company developing a device that is loaded to the brim with next-gen specs such as a smooth 185Hz display, enormous 9,000mAh battery and a 200MP periscope camera. If these leaks prove to be true, the OnePlus 16 could end up being the strongest Android flagship in 2026.
OnePlus 16 Display & Design
As far as the display goes, leaks are suggesting the OnePlus 16 will come with a premium BOE manufactured 6.78-inch LTPO OLED flat panel and that this will have an ultra high refresh rate of 185Hz which will offer one of the best smartphone experiences seen.
It is suggested that the display will also boast ultra-thin 1mm bezels on all 4 sides using LIPO packaging and the screen will also tout the BT.2020 color gamut for more vivid colors.
OnePlus 16 Camera upgrades
OnePlus is apparently going all out to rival flagship camera phones with the OnePlus 16 as leaks show a triple rear camera system which will feature a massive 200MP Samsung HP5 periscope telephoto lens with a 3x optical zoom at the forefront.
This will be accompanied by a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. Along with the upgrades in hardware, OnePlus might also debut advanced AI photography features to improve low-light and portrait shots, along with image processing.
Leaks are also suggesting the inclusion of an AI button on the frame of the phone.
OnePlus 16 Performance and Processor
The OnePlus 16 is expected to be launched with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. This flagship chipset is rumored to offer a blazing fast experience with clock speeds up to 5GHz and will also be accompanied by LPDDR6 RAM and new storage technology. Intense games and editing 4K content and AI tasks should be run with absolute ease by the device and the phone will come with Android 17 based OxygenOS 17 out of the box.
Massive 9,000mAh Battery
Battery life could arguably become one of the biggest selling points of the OnePlus 16 as reports show that the device may come with a behemoth 9,000mAh battery that utilizes Glacier Battery tech. However, OnePlus will likely be aiming to slim down the device significantly as despite the mammoth battery, the company is reportedly also trying to keep the phone as light and slim as possible. The smartphone will also reportedly include 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.
If this holds true, the OnePlus 16 should easily manage two day battery life.
Gaming and Audio Features
Games are also reportedly on OnePlus’s mind, as the device is said to be launched with a large vapor chamber cooling system to combat overheating. The smartphone will reportedly sport dual stereo speakers, a potent Bionic X-axis vibration motor for enhanced haptics and lower touch latency, and IP68/IP69 rating for water and dust resistance.
Estimated Launch
The OnePlus 16 is allegedly already in the engineering validation testing phase. OnePlus is rumored to launch the device in China around October 2026, followed by an international and Indian release sometime after.
