Moto G86 5G vs Moto G86 Power 5G: Motorola has launched two new powerful 5G smartphones simultaneously – Moto G86 5G and Moto G86 Power 5G. The names are similar, but there is a lot in both of them that makes them different. Both phones fall in the mid-range category, but one has more battery, while the other is lighter weight and slightly less price. If you are also confused about which one to buy – then let’s compare both in a desi style, that too phase-wise.
Battery – brought power in the true sense!
The name of Moto G86 Power 5G itself tells that there is going to be something special in it regarding the battery. This phone has a very big 6720mAh battery – meaning after charging once, it will easily last for two-three days, and it is accompanied by 30W TurboPower charging. On the other hand, the G86 5G gets a slightly smaller 5200mAh battery, which claims to give up to 41 hours of usage – that is good, but slightly behind the Power edition.
Display – Hi-fi visual experience in both
The display of both the phones is similar and is quite strong. 6.67-inch AMOLED display, which gets 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and peak brightness of 4500 nits. Due to the AMOLED panel, the colors look vibrant and outdoor visibility is also great. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection has been given, so there will be less tension in accidental drops.
Performance – Both are equally powerful!
Both models run on MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor – which gives efficient and smooth performance with 5G support. These phones running on Android 15 do not leave any significant difference in daily use, gaming, and multitasking.
Moto G86 5G has 8GB RAM, which can go up to 24GB with virtual memory. On the other hand, the USP of G86 Power 5G is its massive 512GB storage – which is double the 256GB storage of G86 5G. Meaning, for those who are used to keeping more data, the Power option will be better.
Camera – There is a slight difference here too
The front camera is 32MP in both and there is support for 4K video recording – there will be no difference in selfies and video calls.
But in the back camera, G86 Power 5G turns out to be a bit heavier hitter. It has a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 sensor with OIS – which gives better pictures even in low light, and there is also an 8MP ultrawide + macro combo. This combo is not present in G86 5G – meaning the Power edition is more appealing for photography lovers.
Design and Extra Features
Both the phones have vegan leather finish on the back panel, which gives premium feel in hand. There is also IP68/IP69 rating as well as MIL-STD 810H certification, meaning there is some safety from dust, water and accidental fall.
Audio is also quite loud and immersive in both with Dolby Atmos supported stereo speakers.
On-screen fingerprint sensor, dual SIM (physical + eSIM), Wi-Fi 6, NFC and ThinkShield security – all these features are same in both phones. Yes, there is a slight difference in weight – G86 Power 5G is a bit heavier (198g) while G86 5G is a bit lighter (185g).
Price and Colour Options
The Moto G86 5G is priced at £280/€299 (26311), in which you get 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. On the other hand, the Moto G86 Power 5G is priced at £299.99/€329 (31,933) but comes with 512GB of storage.
In terms of colours, both have similar options – Chrysanthemum (red), Cypress (olive green), Spellbound (dark blue), and Cosmic Sky (lavender) – very classy and youth-friendly shades.
Final Verdict – Which one to get?
If you are one of those who want a bigger battery, more storage and better camera setup – then the Moto G86 Power 5G will be right for you. For power users, it gives “Power” in its name as well as work.
But if your budget is a little tight, and you want a light and balanced phone with good performance, great display and battery that lasts more than a day – then the Moto G86 5G is a solid choice.
Both phones are amazing in their own way – you just have to decide whether you want more storage and battery or a slimmer and pocket-friendly option. The brand is the same, but in terms of performance, the one with more power is clearly ahead!
