Lava: The Indian company Lava has launched something new once more, and this time its design is striking right away. The next smartphone from the company will include a secondary display on the back, the company has stated. Lava looks to have drawn influence from the Xiaomi 17 Pro series! Lava gave us a preview of the future phone’s rear panel by posting a teaser photograph on X (previously Twitter). The design suggests what Lava has planned for the future, even if the company has not yet disclosed the name or debut date.

A tiny rectangular screen that is expertly incorporated inside the camera module is visible in the teaser. It is placed next to a dual-camera system with two primary lens rings. A 50MP AI camera is confirmed by embossed writing on the back panel, indicating that photography will be a key feature.

New Phone Design from Lava
The phone’s design features a sleek right-side frame, a slightly elevated camera island, and gently rounded corners. Although Lava has not confirmed it yet, this could indicate that the volume and power buttons are on the left side. Xiaomi’s rear display is bigger and more noticeable, but Lava’s design seems more functional, which makes sense given that this phone is expected to be in the mid-range.

Lava is no new to the concept of a secondary rear display.
It is vital to remember, though, that Lava is not new to the idea of a secondary rear display. This design has previously been tested by the brand. Launched in late 2024, the Lava Agni 3 had a 1.74-inch AMOLED back screen. Likewise, a tiny AMOLED screen was located on the rear of the Lava Blaze Duo. The secondary display of those phones was used to manage timers and alarms, check basic alerts, control music playing, and take selfies using the back cameras. Therefore, even if Xiaomi’s most recent flagship served as inspiration, Lava already has experience putting this feature into practice for regular use. It is unclear, yet, what new features this coming phone will involve.
