The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has announced the 2023 Main Exam dates for the Review Officer (RO) and Assistant Review Officer (ARO) Recruitment Examination. The Commission has released the exam schedule on its official website, uppsc.up.nic.in. The exam will be held over two days: January 31st and February 1st, 2026. Candidates who passed the Preliminary Examination will now appear for the Main Examination.

UPPSC RO ARO Mains Exam to be held in two days

According to the notice issued by UPPSC, the RO-ARO 2023 Mains Exam will be conducted on January 31, 2026, and February 1, 2026.

  • Day 1 (January 31, 2026): The exam will be held in two shifts.
  • Paper 1 (General Studies): 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
  • Paper 2 (Subject-Based Questions): 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
  • Session 3 (Short Answer/Descriptive): 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
  • Day 2 (February 1, 2026): The Hindi Essay exam will be held from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.

However, the Commission has also clarified that the exam date may be changed in case of any unforeseen circumstances.

Admit Cards Will Be Released Soon

Admit cards for the UPPSC RO ARO Mains Exam 2026 will be released a few days before the exam. Candidates will be able to download them from the Commission’s website, uppsc.up.nic.in. To download the admit card, candidates will need to enter their registration number and date of birth. A separate notification regarding the admit card will also be issued by the Commission soon.

How Many Candidates Will Appear?

The result of the preliminary examination conducted by the UPPSC on July 27, 2025, was released on September 16, 2025. A total of 7,509 candidates were declared successful in this examination. All these candidates will now appear for the main examination.

Which Departments Will Be Appointed?

A total of 411 posts will be filled through this recruitment process. Successful candidates will be appointed to the positions of Review Officer (RO) and Assistant Review Officer (ARO) in various departments of the Uttar Pradesh government. The selection process will be completed based on the main examination and document verification.

What will be the format of the exam?

The main exam will assess candidates’ general studies, writing skills, and Hindi language knowledge. The question paper pattern will be both descriptive and objective. The Commission states that the purpose of this exam is to test candidates’ analytical ability, expression, and subject understanding.
