The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made an important announcement regarding the Class 10th and 12th board examinations. The board stated in an official notification that the 2026 board examinations will begin on February 17, 2026. This year, the CBSE has released the datesheet 110 days in advance, keeping in mind student preparation and exam management, providing adequate time for both schools and students.

Board Exams to Begin on February 17, 2026
According to the CBSE, Class 10th and 12th examinations for the 2025-26 session will begin on February 17, 2026. This decision has been taken in accordance with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP-2020). The board also stated that the datesheet has been made public in advance to ensure the declaration of exam results on time.

For the first time, the datesheet has been released in record time
CBSE stated that this is the first time the datesheet has been released, almost four months before the start of the exams. Schools completed the list of students (LOC) submission process on time, making this possible. The board says this will give students more time to prepare for the exams, allowing them to perform better without stress.

A circular issued by the CBSE states that releasing the datesheet early will have several benefits.
- Students will be able to begin exam preparation earlier.
- Teachers will not be away from their schools, which will prevent disruption to regular studies.
- Schools will be able to plan for entrance exams (JEE, NEET, etc.) for 12th-grade students.
- This step has also been taken to ensure that the dates of board exams and entrance exams do not clash.

CBSE Issues Important Advice
The Board has instructed schools to ensure that students applying for JEE Main or other entrance exams submit their registration numbers on time. Schools have been advised to ensure students’ registration numbers from Class 11 onward to avoid any application issues.
