SBI ATM Charges: State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest public sector bank, has revised its ATM transaction charges. These new rules came into effect on December 1, 2025. These changes will particularly affect savings and salary account holders who use ATMs of banks other than SBI. The bank states that the decision was made after a review of ATM service charges following an increase in interchange fees. This is the first time SBI has increased ATM charges since February 2025.

Cash Withdrawals from Non-SBI ATMs Become More Expensive

According to the new system, if SBI customers withdraw cash from other banks’ ATMs after exceeding their free limit, they will now have to pay ₹23 plus GST per transaction. Previously, this charge was ₹21 plus GST.

Similarly, non-financial transactions such as balance checks or mini statements will now be charged ₹11 plus GST, which was previously ₹10 plus GST. However, SBI has clarified that there is no change in the free transaction limit for regular savings account holders. Customers can still make a total of 5 free transactions per month at other banks’ ATMs, as before.

Revised Rules for Salary Account Holders

SBI salary package savings account holders will no longer have unlimited free ATM transactions. Under the new rules, only 10 free transactions per month will be allowed at other banks’ ATMs.

After exceeding the free limit, salary account holders will also have to pay ₹23 plus GST for cash withdrawals and ₹11 plus GST for non-financial transactions.

Which Accounts Will Not Be Affected by the Changes?

According to SBI, some specific categories of accounts are exempt from these new charges. No new charges have been applied to Basic Savings Bank Deposit Accounts. All transactions made with SBI debit cards at SBI’s own ATMs will remain completely free, as before. In addition, the cardless cash withdrawal facility at SBI ATMs will remain unlimited and free. These changes will also not affect Kisan Credit Card (KCC) accounts.
