Railway Diwali Bonus 2025: The Union Cabinet has taken an important decision for the railway employees. The Cabinet has approved Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) of Rs 1,866 crore for railway employees, which will benefit 10.90 lakh employees for their good performance.
The Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a 78-day bonus for railway employees. The central government has approved Rs 1865.68 crore for this. The government has said that this bonus will be paid to the railway employees before Diwali.
This amount will be paid to railway employees such as track maintainers, loco pilots, track managers (guards), station masters, supervisors, technicians, technician helpers, pointsmen, Railway Ministry employees, and other groups of employees. Officers do not receive bonuses. Railway Protection Force personnel are not covered under this scheme. However, they are provided financial assistance through other means.
Last year also, 78 days bonus was received
Every year, before the Durga Puja/Dussehra holidays, PLB is paid to eligible railway employees. Last year, the Modi government approved a bonus of Rs 2,029 crore for railway employees, benefiting 1,172,240 employees. Last year, employees received a bonus for only 78 days.
Official sources within the Railway Board indicate that employees working in Bengal, Bihar, and other locations will receive their bonuses before Dussehra. Employees working in northern India are typically paid bonuses before Diwali. This year, employees will receive a maximum bonus of Rs 17,951.
Meanwhile, experts say that the bonuses the government has given railway employees during the festive season will increase shopping. The approximately 1,900 crore rupees that will be distributed under this scheme will be used by railway employees to purchase clothes, shoes, and other items for themselves and their children.
The Modi cabinet has approved the doubling of the Bakhtiyarpur-Rajgir-Tilaiya railway line in Bihar, at a cost of Rs 2,192 crore. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that until now, this was a single line, which had limited capacity. After being doubled, its capacity will increase.
