PMMVY Scheme: Pregnant Women to Get Rs 5,000 Benefit – Check Eligibility and How to Apply

PMMVY: The central government administers the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). This scheme was first launched in 2010 and was renamed in 2017. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance for nutritious food to pregnant women and lactating mothers, increase their awareness of health services, and encourage positive attitudes toward the girl child.

Under the scheme, the central government provides Rs 5,000 for a first-time mother. If a woman gives birth to a daughter for the second time, she receives another Rs 6,000. The funds received through the scheme can be used to provide nutritious food for the mother and child.

Under this scheme, women receive Rs 5,000 upon first pregnancy . The first Rs 3,000 is provided upon pregnancy registration. The second installment, Rs 2,000, is provided upon birth registration. If a second pregnancy results in a daughter, the government provides Rs 6,000. This assistance is sent to beneficiaries’ Aadhaar-linked bank or post office accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Which women will get the benefit?

Pregnant women must be at least 19 years old. Furthermore, the family’s annual income must be less than Rs 8 lakh. Women with a MNREGA card or receiving benefits under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi are eligible for this scheme. Women with an e-Shram card, BPL card, or those with disabilities can also apply. Applications must be submitted within 270 days of the child’s birth, otherwise the opportunity is lost.

How to apply?

To avail the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, you can apply online. Visit the official website, pmmvy.wcd.gov.in, to upload documents like your Aadhaar card, bank passbook, and MCP card. Submit the form offline at your nearest Anganwadi center or health center. Forms 1A, 1B, and 1C are for installments, respectively. The government has recently simplified the application process so that every woman can benefit. More than 4 crore women benefited

More than 4 crore women across the country have received at least one installment of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). The government has disbursed Rs  19,028 crore so far. According to the PIB, the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is a centrally sponsored scheme, run under the sub-scheme “Samarthya” of Mission Shakti. Its objective is to improve maternal and child health.
