PM Kisan Yojana: Good news for Indian Farmers. A special initiative for farmers, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM Kisan Yojana), is set to undergo significant changes. This program is crucial for supporting the farmers of our nation. At present, it offers financial aid of Rs 6,000 per year to farmers, which may soon rise to ₹9,000. During the West Bengal election campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured farmers that if he were to form the government, the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi amount would be raised from Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000.
How will Modi keep his promise of Rs 9,000?
While speaking at a large public gathering in Bangaon during the Bengal Assembly election campaign, Modi declared that once the BJP takes charge in Bengal, the ‘PM Kisan Samman Nidhi’ amount would be increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000 each year.
The BJP has successfully established a government in Bengal with a majority. Consequently, farmers in Bengal are eagerly observing whether this promise will be honored. A similar commitment was made during the elections in Maharashtra.
Maharashtra’s model could be replicated
In Maharashtra, a new framework was introduced to meet the commitments made to the public. Comparable actions are expected to be taken in Bengal. Previously, farmers in Maharashtra received ₹6,000 annually from the central government. After the BJP’s success, a new initiative was launched that raised the financial support for farmers.
In Maharashtra, in addition to the central government’s ₹6,000 assistance, the state government contributed an extra Rs 6,000 through its own program, the Namo Shetkari Mahasamman Nidhi. With this new initiative, farmers benefited from a total of Rs 12,000 instead of just ₹6,000. It is anticipated that in Bengal, the state government might add Rs 3,000 to the existing scheme, resulting in a total of Rs 9,000. However, no official confirmation has been provided yet.
Will the amount really increase?
Currently, there has been no official statement from the central government regarding increasing the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi amount. Any discussion is based on election promises. The Maharashtra model certainly suggests that the state and central government can work together to increase assistance to farmers. However, until a government announcement is made, farmers will have to rely on the current Rs 6,000 scheme and wait for the 23rd installment.
When will the 23rd installment come?
The 22nd installment was sent to farmers’ accounts in March 2026. Under the scheme, an installment is released every four months, so it is now expected that the 23rd installment (pm kisan samman nidhi yojana 23 installment) may arrive in late June or early July.
