Emerging from the political landscape of Tamil Nadu is one such name: the actor-turned-politician, Thalapathy Vijay. His newly formed party not only delivered an impressive performance but also reached the very threshold of forming a government.
It effectively outmanoeuvred Tamil Nadu’s long-established parties—the DMK and the AIADMK. Following his electoral victory, the manifesto released by Thalapathy has gone viral on social media and is currently the subject of widespread discussion. He made numerous significant promises catering to everyone—from the youth to the general public—and now faces the formidable challenge of fulfilling them.
Thalapathy Vijay’s Promises to the Youth
By securing a spectacular victory in the Tamil Nadu elections, Thalapathy Vijay has set a precedent. Positioning the TVK as a viable alternative dedicated to the welfare of the common people, Vijay presented a comprehensive agenda that blends direct financial assistance schemes with long-term development initiatives.
In his manifesto, Thalapathy Vijay placed special emphasis on social security, employment generation, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence into governance, alongside promising a host of benefits specifically for the youth. Indeed, the youth remained the primary focus of his entire manifesto.
How Much Monthly Financial Assistance Will the Youth Receive?
In his election manifesto, Thalapathy Vijay pledged to provide a monthly allowance of ₹4,000 to unemployed graduates over the age of 29. For diploma holders, a monthly assistance sum of ₹2,000 was promised. Furthermore, he pledged to create 500,000 internship opportunities for the youth, offering a monthly stipend of ₹10,000 to general graduates and ₹8,000 to IT graduates.
A Promise of Education Loans as Well
In addition to the unemployment allowance, Thalapathy Vijay’s election manifesto included a promise to provide collateral-free—that is, guarantee-free—education loans of up to ₹20 lakhs to students ranging from the 12th grade through to the PhD level. Additionally, an announcement was made to provide interest-free loans of up to ₹25 lakh to entrepreneurs. There is also a pledge to reserve 75 per cent of jobs in private companies for residents of Tamil Nadu.
