Crops will only flourish when farmers work diligently, but the difficulties of farming often challenge their efforts. Factors such as high-quality seeds, agricultural equipment, favorable weather, and financial stability directly impact farming. These problems become even more severe for economically weaker farmers. To mitigate these challenges, the central government is providing direct financial assistance to farmers through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.

Many farmers have not received the benefit
The government recently released the 21st installment of the PM Kisan Yojana, with over nine crore eligible farmers receiving the amount. However, there are many farmers whose accounts have not received this installment. This is not because they are ineligible, but because their installment has been withheld due to incomplete formalities.
Land verification incomplete
The first major reason is the incomplete land verification. Verification of the farmer’s land-related information is mandatory in the scheme. If this process is not completed, the installment is automatically stopped, and the farmer does not receive the benefit.
Installment also stops if e-KYC is not completed
According to the government, the purpose of KYC is to ensure that the assistance amount reaches only the correct and eligible farmer. If a farmer has not completed e-KYC, it hinders the installment process. This is a significant reason why a large number of farmers’ installments have been stuck.
DBT option not activated in the bank account
The central government sends the benefit amount directly to the bank account under the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) system. If the DBT option is not activated in a farmer’s bank account, the installment amount does not reach the account. Such farmers can visit their bank to activate DBT so that future installments are received on time.

When will the pending installment be received?
Farmers whose installments have been stopped due to incomplete documents and procedures must first complete all these formalities. As soon as farmers complete their e-KYC, land verification, or DBT updates, the state government updates their names in the eligible list, and this information is forwarded to the central government. The central government can then release the pending installment amount along with the next installment in a single payment. This means that if the 21st installment was not received, there is a possibility of receiving a total of four thousand rupees with the upcoming 22nd installment.
