Noida Gets AC Electric Buses From June 10, Eye on 20 Route

: Good news for Noida people. Electric buses will begin operating for public transportation in Greater Noida on June 10. Initially, 12 buses will operate on various routes in the city.

The routes of these buses will be expanded once Noida Airport opens. The routes and fares will be finalized this week. The buses will be operated by drivers and conductors from the Uttar Pradesh State Transport Corporation. The difference between operating revenue and operating expenses will be covered by the authority.

Greater Noida currently lacks a robust public transportation system. Metro services operate on limited routes. Millions of residents rely on autorickshaws, taxis, and private vehicles for transportation. The authority has previously operated buses in collaboration with the Transport Corporation, but these services were discontinued due to losses.

Passenger services are set to restart at Noida airport starting June 15

To enhance public transport, e-buses are being introduced, with passenger services resuming from Noida Airport on June 15. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has recently instructed the operation of 110 buses. As part of this initiative, the first phase will see the launch of 35 air-conditioned e-buses. Out of these, 18 will serve the Noida Authority area, 12 will be in the Greater Noida area, and five will operate in the Yamuna Authority (YEIDA) area.

Four routes to the airport have already been established

The Greater Noida Authority has set up four routes for the airport. This week, officials from the authority and the Transport Corporation will convene to finalize routes for the e-buses in the city. They will also determine the fares. Bus fares are expected to be aligned with auto rickshaw rates in the city, ensuring that residents opt for e-buses rather than avoiding them due to high costs, preventing the bus operation project from becoming unprofitable once more.

Moreover, there will be a focus on bus frequency. Plans are in place to create bus routes through Noida Phase 2, Surajpur, and Kasna. Authority CEO NG Ravi Kumar mentioned that buses will commence operations on June 10th. Buses will be deployed on routes anticipated to have a high passenger volume. Initially, 12 buses will be in service.

Pre-decided routes for electric buses

  1. In Greater Noida West, from Char Murti Chowk to Noida Airport via Surajpur Ghanta Chowk, Pari Chowk.
  2. 130 meter wide road from Char Murti Chowk to Noida Airport via Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS).
  3. From Makoda roundabout located on a 130 meter wide road in Greater Noida East area to Noida Airport via NASA Parking and Sector P-7.
  4. It will start from Industrial Sector-16 via Tilpata Roundabout, Swarn Nagari, Yatharth Hospital and Gautam Buddha University (GBU) to Noida Airport.
