The year 2026 is set to be a banner year for the smartphone market, with an abundance of upgraded devices hitting the shelves. Brace yourselves for the launch of giant silicon-carbon batteries, 200MP flagship cameras, more sophisticated periscope zoom lenses, and refined foldable displays – all vying for attention across various price points. Motorola, Xiaomi, Samsung, and Nothing are among the brands gearing up to introduce a plethora of powerful devices tailored for gamers, creators, photographers, and heavy users in India.

Xiaomi 17T

Xiaomi is set to revive its popular T-series with the launch of the Xiaomi 17T. While it was globally unveiled in May 2026, its official India launch is slated for June 2026.

The 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant is expected to be priced around ₹52,700 in India.

The Xiaomi 17T sports a 6.59-inch 1.5K LTPS display with a 144Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it’s powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor and a robust 6500mAh battery with 67W HyperCharge support.

The standout feature of the Xiaomi 17T is its Leica-tuned camera system. This model will include a 5x Leica periscope telephoto lens, a feature typically reserved for more expensive flagship devices. It is complemented by a 50MP primary camera and a 12MP ultrawide sensor.

For enhanced durability, the phone is IP68 dust and water-resistant.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8

Samsung is expected to unveil its next-generation foldable flagship, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, in July 2026.

The foldable device is anticipated to start at approximately ₹1,66,000 for the base storage variant, with higher-end models potentially exceeding ₹2 lakh depending on storage and RAM configurations.

Samsung has been diligently addressing customer feedback from previous fold models, and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to bring a larger, more natural-feeling folding display with significantly reduced crease visibility.

The device is likely to be equipped with Qualcomm’s upcoming processor, a larger 5000mAh battery, and faster 45W wired charging.

The camera system is also in for a major upgrade, with a 200MP main sensor featuring OIS and Quad Pixel autofocus technology. Samsung is also said to be offering storage options up to 1TB, along with 16GB RAM variants.

Google’s is expected to deliver one of its biggest hardware refreshes for years with the Pixel 11 Pro. This time, the company is stepping away from its Samsung-built silicon and modems, instead shifting to a TSMC-built processor with a MediaTek modem for better thermal management and connectivity performance.

The device is said to feature a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED screen with 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rates and peak brightness reaching 2,450 nits. The company will also introduce a new “Pixel Glow” RGB lighting system to the back camera bar. Other expected camera improvements include custom sensors that boost low-light performance and zoom. Price for India is anticipated to begin at 1,05,000.

iQOO is aiming to capture the hardcore gamer and power user segment again with the impending launch of the iQOO 15 Pro. Expected to launch later in 2026, the device will surely boast a flagship-grade chipset, a 6.8-inch AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, and an excellent camera system along with extremely fast charging.

We can expect the device to come with Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon processor coupled with an advanced cooling solution that enables the device to game without heating issues for extended periods. The phone is also rumored to be powered by a massive 5,500mAh battery that supports 120W fast charging. In terms of cameras, it’s expected to feature a 64MP periscope telephoto lens and will likely be priced around 59,999 in India.

Which upcoming smartphone looks most exciting?

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro is a strong contender for buyers seeking flagship-level specifications at a price point below ₹40,000. The Xiaomi 17T has the potential to become a top-tier camera-focused value flagship due to its Leica periscope setup.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 caters to the ultra-premium foldable market, while the Nothing Phone 3 offers a unique flagship experience with its clean software and balanced hardware.

The latter half of 2026 is certainly shaping up to be a fiercely competitive period for smartphone consumers in India.
