LPG Price March 7: The ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel has led to an increase in LPG cylinder prices by Rs 115 starting today. Domestic users are facing an additional cost of Rs 60, while those using commercial cylinders are seeing a rise of Rs 115. It’s worth noting that just before Holi, consumers of commercial LPG cylinders experienced a price shock, with rates rising by Rs 50 from Delhi to Patna.
In Surat, the price of a 19 kg cylinder has surged by Rs 1846.50 today, while the domestic cylinder has gone up by Rs 924. In Hyderabad, the commercial cylinder now costs Rs 2106.5 more, and the domestic cylinder has increased by Rs 965. Meanwhile, in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, the 19 kg blue cylinder has become Rs 2312.5 more expensive, and the domestic LPG cylinder is now priced at Rs 975.
Today’s Domestic LPG Rates
According to Indian Oil, the price of a 14.2 kg domestic cylinder in Delhi is now Rs 913. In Mumbai, it is priced at Rs 912.50, while in Kolkata, it costs Rs 939, and in Chennai, it is Rs 928.50. In Patna, the cost is Rs 1011.
Commercial Cylinder Pricing
As per Indian Oil, a 19 kg LPG cylinder in Delhi will now be available for Rs 1,883, up from Rs 1,768.50 on March 1st, and it was Rs 1,740.50 on February 1st. In Kolkata, the price was Rs 1,844.50 in February, increased to Rs 1,875.50 on March 1st, and is now Rs 1,990.
In Mumbai, the commercial cylinder is priced at Rs 1,835 starting today, having risen from Rs 1,692 to Rs 1,720 on March 1st. In Chennai, the commercial cylinder now costs Rs 2,043.50, up from Rs 1,929 on March 1st, and previously it was Rs 1,899.50. Data from previous years shows that March has often brought inflation for LPG consumers. Commercial cylinders, in particular, have become more expensive during this month, while consumers have been shocked whenever domestic cylinder rates have changed.
Prices increased twice in March 2022 as well
In March 2022, rates were updated not once, but twice. On March 1, commercial cylinders jumped from ₹105 to Rs 108. They reached Rs 2012 in Delhi, Rs 2095 in Kolkata, Rs 1963 in Mumbai, and Rs 2146 in Chennai. Then, on March 22, domestic cylinders were hit, rising by Rs 50 to Rs 949.50 in Delhi, Rs 976 in Kolkata, Rs 949.50 in Mumbai, and Rs 965.50 in Chennai.
March 2023 proved to be the most expensive. On March 1, the price of a domestic cylinder jumped by 50 rupees to reach 1103 rupees in Delhi, 1129 rupees in Kolkata, 1102.50 rupees in Mumbai, and 1118.50 rupees in Chennai. Meanwhile, the price of a commercial cylinder was completely broken. It rose by 105 rupees to 2120 rupees in Delhi, 108 rupees to 2222 rupees in Kolkata, 106 rupees to 2072 rupees in Mumbai, and 106 rupees to 2268 rupees in Chennai.
