Aadhaar-SIM Card: In today’s digital age, mobile numbers have become an essential part of our identity. From banking to social media, online shopping, and government services, mobile numbers are essential everywhere. Meanwhile, cases of fake SIM cards and cyber fraud are also increasing rapidly. Sometimes, unbeknownst to a person, someone else activates a SIM card using their ID, which can lead to significant problems later on. So, let us tell you how to check if a stranger is using a SIM card on your Aadhaar card.

How many SIMs are allowed on one Aadhaar card?

According to new telecom regulations, a maximum of nine SIM cards can be active on a person’s Aadhaar card. However, in Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, and the Northeast states, this limit has been set at six. If more SIM cards are found active than the prescribed limit, there is a penalty. Furthermore, if a SIM card is active on your ID that you are not using, misuse could result in legal liability. If that SIM card is used for fraud, cheating, or any other illegal activity, you could face trouble. Therefore, it is crucial to know how many and which SIM cards are active on your ID.

How to check how many SIMs are active on your Aadhaar?

To check how many SIM cards are active on your Aadhaar card, the Telecom Department has provided the Sanchar Sathi and TAFCOP portals. You can find out this from the comfort of your home in minutes.

For this, first go to the website tafcop.dgtelecom.gov.in or sancharsaathi.gov.in .

Now enter your mobile number and captcha on the home page.

After this an OTP will come on your number, fill it and login.

As soon as you login, a list of all the mobile numbers linked to your ID will appear on the screen.

What to do if you see a fake or unknown number?

If you see a number you don’t recognize on the list, you can report it by clicking on the “Not My Number” or “Not Required” option next to it. After filing your complaint, you’ll receive a ticket ID or reference number. After investigation, the fake SIM will be deactivated or removed from your ID. There’s no fee for this, though it may take a few days for the SIM to be deactivated.
