Govt Scheme – SC women will receive Rs 1,500 per month – a new scheme has been announced 

Govt Scheme: Punjab ‘s Bhagwant Mann government on Sunday presented a budget of Rs 2,60,437 crore for the financial year 2026-27. While presenting the budget in the Punjab Assembly today, Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema also announced a major scheme for women. Under this new scheme, women from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category will receive a monthly assistance of Rs 1500, while women from all other categories will receive Rs 1000 per month. Let us tell you that before the Punjab Assembly elections in 2022, the Aam Aadmi Party had promised to provide a monthly assistance of Rs 1000 to women, and this was one of the major election promises made by the party.

Financial assistance will be provided to women under the Chief Minister Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana. Presenting the budget in the Assembly on Sunday, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced the implementation of the “Mukhyamantri Mawan Dhiyaan Satkar Yojana” (Chief Minister Mother-Daughter Felicitation Scheme). Under this scheme, the Punjab government will transfer financial assistance directly to women’s bank accounts.

The Bhagwant Mann government launched this new scheme nearly four years after coming to power in Punjab. Cheema said that the government will transfer Rs 1,500 every month to the accounts of women from the Scheduled Caste community. This announcement was made on the occasion of International Women’s Day. This is the first time the state budget has been presented on a Sunday. The Finance Minister described this scheme as the world’s first “universal cash transfer” scheme for women.

Women receiving old age, widow or disability pension will also get help

The Finance Minister said, “Every woman above 18 years of age in Punjab will be eligible for this scheme. Only current or former government employees, former and current MPs/MLAs, and women income tax payers are excluded.” According to Cheema, women receiving social security pensions (old age, widow, or disability pensions) will also be able to benefit from this scheme.

He claimed that approximately 97 percent of adult women in Punjab will be covered. The initiative aims to promote women’s economic independence, strengthen their role in household decisions, improve health and nutrition levels, and encourage higher education and aspirations of girls.
