Good news for farmer’s. The Karnataka government has announced major relief for farmers affected by heavy rains and floods. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that crops across the state have been damaged. Farmers are being compensated under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), and the state government will now provide an additional Rs 8,500 per hectare.
This means that for dry land, an additional Rs 8,500 will be provided, bringing the total compensation to Rs 17,000 per hectare. For irrigated land, this amount will increase from Rs 17,000 to Rs 25,500. For perennial crops, compensation will increase from Rs 22,500 to Rs 31,000 per hectare.

Siddaramaiah stated that widespread flooding in several districts, including Kalaburagi, Bidar, Yadagiri, and Vijayapura, has damaged crops across millions of hectares. A joint survey of 500,000 hectares has currently been conducted, and preliminary reports indicate that over 1 million hectares of crops have been affected.
Fifty-two people have lost their lives and 422 animals have died, and compensation has been provided to their families and owners. Officials have been instructed to expedite relief efforts in the affected areas.
Various Kharif crops, including tur, mung, soybean, cotton, etc., are suffering significant losses. To provide financial assistance to farmers, the state government is committed to completing surveys quickly and distributing compensation. Additionally, additional assistance will be sought from the central government for crop and infrastructure damage. This will support farmers in continuing farming and improve their precarious situation.
