Crores of farmers involved in agriculture in India are still not fully aware of many important government schemes. However, the aim of these schemes is not only to provide subsidies, but also to increase farmers’ income, connect them with technology, provide old age security and make agriculture a profitable profession. While Rs 6,000 is transferred directly to the bank account of farmers every year through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana, there are 5 other government schemes that provide farmers with benefits worth lakhs of rupees, lifetime pension and a shield of protection against natural disasters. Find out about those government schemes that most farmers still do not know about.

1. Pradhan Mantri Kisan Mandhan Yojana (PMKMY):

These schemes are designed for marginal and Small Farmers between 18 and 40 years old. The programmes allow Farmers to put money into the programme from Rs 55 to Rs 200 a month, with the Government also contributing the same amount. Once the Farmer becomes 60, they will receive Rs 3,000 every month as a pension. The Pension provides a way for Farmers, who may not have any other means of supporting themselves in their old age to support themselves.

2. Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana)

Started on 16 July 2025, the PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana has the goal of developing 100 backward Agricultural Districts in the Country. The Farmers in these Districts will receive technical training; information on Crop Diversification; access to modern seeds; support for manpower, and access to Marketing Facilities. The goal of this Programme is to create a Sustainable and Profitable Career in Agriculture for Farmers. The PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana has provided new hope for Farmers who were previously unable to participate in Technology and Markets.

3. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)

If your crops are damaged due to rain, hail, insects or any natural calamity, then this scheme is for you. It provides complete crop insurance cover to farmers at a very low premium. More than 50 crops are covered under it. In case of loss, the compensation amount is directly transferred to the bank account.

4. Krishi UDAN Scheme

This scheme is designed to ensure fast and safe delivery of farmers’ produce to major markets in the country. It is especially important for farmers in the North-East, hilly and tribal areas. Under this scheme, perishable goods like fruits, flowers, vegetables, fish and milk are airlifted through 58 airports, so that farmers get better prices and the wastage of produce is reduced.

5. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY)

The dream of providing “water to every field” is associated with this scheme. Farmers are provided financial assistance for drip irrigation, construction of ponds, canal renovation and water conservation. Especially in those areas where the monsoon is the only hope. This scheme is very important to save agriculture from water shortage.
