Digital services have undergone significant changes recently. UIDAI has launched a new app. This app is available on both Android and iPhone devices. Millions of people have downloaded this app today. The biggest relief is that, with the new update released on December 2nd, users can now update their mobile number in their Aadhaar card from the comfort of their homes.

It’s worth noting that changing your mobile number used to require biometric verification and a visit to a verification centre, but new technology has made this much easier. The app now allows you to update your mobile number. However, soon, you’ll also be able to change your name, address, and email address.

What is My Contact Card?

The most notable feature in the new update to the Aadhaar app is “My Contact Card.” This is a smart way to protect your digital identity while sharing only essential information with others. Typically, when we scan a standard Aadhaar QR code, it displays your name, date of birth, full address, and even a photo. Sometimes, we don’t need to provide such detailed personal information.

My Contact Card proves extremely useful in such situations. This feature creates a unique QR code for you, which, when scanned, only shows your name, mobile number, and email address. This ensures your privacy and allows you to share your contact details securely. It doesn’t include your address, date of birth, or any sensitive information.

Where is this new feature useful?

Aadhaar is required for almost every process today, be it school admission, banking, or ticket booking. Sometimes, you only need to share your contact details, but your entire Aadhaar details are exposed. My Contact Card is a very effective solution to this problem.
