Bhagya Lakshmi Yojana- The Uttar Pradesh government’s Bhagya Lakshmi Yojana is a significant financial assistance scheme for daughters from families living below the poverty line. The scheme aims to prevent female foeticide and provide financial security to daughters from birth.

Under this scheme, the government provides a bond of Rs 50,000 for the birth of a daughter in a BPL (below poverty line) family, which increases to Rs 2 lakh when the girl reaches the age of 21. In addition, special financial assistance is also provided for the daughter’s education, helping to improve the families’ standard of living.

Eligibility and benefits of the scheme

This scheme is only available to families in Uttar Pradesh living below the poverty line. Families must register with the government system after the birth of a daughter to receive the scheme’s benefits. When the girl child turns 21, the bond’s value increases to Rs 2 lakh, which is deposited directly into the girl’s account.

Financial assistance for education

Rs 3000 on admission to Class VI,Rs 5,000 in class VIII,Rs 7,000 in class 10th,8,000 rupees in class XII.

The total of these items comes to Rs 23,000, which reduces the burden of education expenses of daughters and increases their chances of getting educated.
