The RBI has declared a bank holiday in Tamil Nadu tomorrow due to Uzhavar Thirunal. Uzhavar Thirunal is a farmers’ festival celebrated in Tamil Nadu, coinciding with the Pongal harvest festival, and honoring the hard work of farmers and the importance of agriculture. Therefore, banks will remain closed today January 17th.

Digital banking services will remain operational

Despite the closure of bank branches, digital services like UPI, mobile banking, ATM and net banking will continue to function normally. However, tasks like cheque deposit, account related services, loan related work or cash transactions, which require visiting the bank branch, would be better to be completed before these holidays.
