First update in 5 years

The Aadhaar card issued to children under the age of 5 does not contain biometric information. It is generated solely based on the parents’ details. Once a child turns 5, their Baal Aadhaar card must be updated. This process involves taking fingerprints, eye scanning, and a photo. This is called a Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU).

Second update at 15 years

As children grow older, their biometric information changes. Therefore, it’s important to re-update your Aadhaar card at age 15. Failure to do so could result in the Aadhaar becoming inactive, potentially hindering many future tasks.
