Once a child turns 5, their Baal Aadhaar card must be updated. This process involves taking fingerprints, eye scanning, and a photo. This is called a Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU).

Second update at 15 years

As children grow older, their biometric information changes. Therefore, it’s important to re-update your Aadhaar card at age 15. Failure to do so could result in the Aadhaar becoming inactive, potentially hindering many future tasks.

Aadhaar update for children is completely free. No fee or charge has to be paid for this. If someone asks you for money, then understand that it is wrong. UIDAI has clarified that parents do not have to pay any money for child Aadhaar update.

 

Complete process to update child Aadhaar Card

To do this, first book an appointment by visiting the UIDAI website, uidai.gov.in. On the date provided, visit the nearest Aadhaar center with your child. Bring the child’s birth certificate, proof of identity and address, along with the parents’ Aadhaar cards. At the center, the child’s fingerprints, eye scans, and a photo are taken to update the data. After this, the child’s Aadhaar card will be considered valid.
