Aadhaar Card – Updating your Aadhaar card has become more expensive. The fees for updating your Aadhaar-related demographic, biometric, and other documents have been increased effective Wednesday, October 1st. According to UIDAI, these new fees will remain in effect until September 30, 2028. Now, you’ll have to pay Rs 75 for a demographic update and Rs 125 for a biometric update. You’ll have to pay Rs 700 for home enrollment.
The fees for updating Aadhaar-related demographic, biometric, and other documents have been increased effective Wednesday, October 1st. According to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), these new fees will remain in effect until September 30, 2028. They will then be reviewed again in October 2028.
According to UIDAI, now Aadhaar holders will have to spend more on demographic and biometric updates. The fee for demographic updates (such as name, address, date of birth, mobile number, or email) will now be Rs 75. Previously, it was Rs 50. If this update is done along with a biometric update, there will be no additional fee.
Biometric updates (fingerprint, iris, or photo) will now cost ₹125. This may increase to ₹150 from October 2028. Document update, i.e., submitting ID and address proof, will be free on the myAadhaar portal until June 14, 2026. This will now cost ₹75 at an enrollment center, up from ₹50 preciously.
Aadhaar printout (through eKYC or other tools). ₹40 for the first phase and ₹50 for the second phase.
Free updates for children
UIDAI has made biometric updates free for children in certain age groups to encourage timely updating. The first mandatory biometric update for children aged 5 to 7 years is free. Children aged 7 to 15 years are normally charged Rs 125, but this fee has been waived till 30 September 2026. The first mandatory biometric update for teenagers between 15 and 17 years is free.
Enrollment at home, you will have to pay Rs 700
If someone cannot visit an enrollment center, UIDAI will provide services at home. New charges have been established for this. A single home visit will cost ₹700 (including GST). If multiple people wish to receive services at the same address, ₹700 will be charged for the first person and ₹350 for each additional member.
