After a long wait, Mercedes Benz India has again introduced the diesel engine option in its Luxury of Roader G-Class. The company has launched it under the name Mercedes G 450d, which has an X-showroom price of ₹2.9 crores. With this launch, the G-Class has now become available in India in all three options for petrol, diesel and electric in early 2025, Mercedes added all-electric G 580 EQ technology to the G Wagen lineup, which comes with the range-topping AMG G 63. Now the arrival of the G 450d has once again returned to life in the diesel segment.
Engine and performance
Speaking of engine and performance, the G 450d features a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which generates 367 hp power and 750 Nm peak torque. It is about 37 hp and 50 Nm more powerful than the old model G 400d. It also gets a 48V mild-hybrid system which gives additional power up to 20 hp if needed.

The SUV is equipped with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and its power reaches all four wheels. Mercedes claims that the G 450d catches 0 to 100 km / h in just 5.8 seconds. At the same time its top speed is 210 km / h, which makes it even more attractive in trains in this segment.
Off roading
The G 450d is not just a luxury SUV, but a real off-road monster. It has ground clearance of 241 mm, fording depth of 700 mm, and approach, breakover and departure angles of 31 °, 26 ° and 30 ° respectively. The company says that this SUV can run fully on the side-slope of 35 °. Thanks to these features, the G 450d can run smoothly in any difficult area whether mud, wacky paths or driving in sandy dunes.

Exterior design
Talking about exterior design, in this case the G 450d looks like the G 400d to a large extent, but it has some special updates. It now features four horizontal slats with chrome finish, new 20-inch AMG alloy wheels and redesigned front and rear bumpers. These small but effective changes have further increased the premium appeal of SUVs. It now looks more muscular and stylish than before.
