The Indian automobile market is now focusing not only on EVs (Electric Vehicles) but also on Hybrid and ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles. Mahindra has also taken a significant step in this direction. The company is preparing to launch not just electric vehicles, but also four new ICE and Hybrid SUVs in the near future. Let’s give you all the details.

Mahindra XUV700 Facelift
The first of these four new SUVs is the facelifted Mahindra XUV700, which is soon to knock in the market. This updated model will give a completely new front look. It will see redesigned headlamps, new six-slot grille, refreshed bumpers, and 18-inch new alloy wheels.

Talking about the interior, the XUV700 will become more futuristic now. This will include triple-screen setup, which will be inspired by premium SUVs like Mahindra’s XEV 9e. A new steering wheel with illuminated Mahindra logo will also be included, which will give it a more modern feel.
XUV 3XO Hybrid
Mahindra’s second new Hybrid SUV will be the XUV 3XO Hybrid, which will be launched in 2026. The car will come with a series-hybrid powertrain, with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine working as just a generator.
This engine will charge a traction battery pack, which will further power the electric motor. This would mean a great combination of both SUV petrol and electric making driving smooth, silent and fuel efficient.

Vision S
The production version of the Vision.S Concept that Mahindra introduced in August will be launched by 2027. It will be a sub-4 metre SUV, which will take advantage of low 18% GST rate. Its design will be quite bold and blocky, making it look different from the other compact SUVs in the market.
This SUV will be built on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ monocoque platform, which supports ICE, HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) and BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) – all three types of powertrains.

Hybrid Plan
Let me tell you that the growth of the EV segment is slow at the moment, and Mahindra has realized that Hybrid carts can fill this gap. According to the company, sales of electric SUVs such as the BE 6e and XEV 9e are currently limited, so by bringing their Hybrid variants, Mahindra will also be able to target customers who are not ready to take a fully electric car at the moment.

In these Hybrid variants Mahindra can give an range-extender series-hybrid setup, in which the engine will only work like a generator — ie it will charge the high-voltage battery pack. It will also be accompanied by an onboard charger so that it can also be empowered with external charging if needed.
