Kia Syros Electric: As rapidly as India’s SUV market is changing, brands are entering the electric segment even faster. At this pace, the Kia Syros Electric SUV is now in the news, having recently been spotted at a charging station. This makes it clear that Kia is preparing to launch its sub-4m SUV, the Syros, in a new electric avatar. While the ICE model boasted strong features, sales didn’t live up to expectations. Now, the EV version could change this story.

Kia Syros EV Testing

Let me tell you that in the Sub 4m SUV market, Kia Syros has faced strong rivals like Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV3XO, Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. Syros was no less in terms of features, yet in September 2025 its sales went below 500 units.

Kia understood that now is the time for change. So the brand is bringing an electric version of Syros, whose testing has been seen quite frequently. Fresh spy shots also saw it plugged in at the charging station, which further ceases the preparation for the EV launch.

Design

Talking about design, the car was seen wearing full camoflage in fresh pictures, but it was not difficult to identify. Its unique alloy wheel design and B and C pillar shapes make it look like their ICE version. Interestingly, Syros EV is still being tested on wheels just like the ICE model. These can be changed in the production version.

KIA’s EV Strategy

Kia has gradually strengthened the EV market in India. Carens Clavis EV became the first mainstream electric 7-seater in this country, and now Syros EV is part of the same strategy. It will be a derived EV, ie it will be based on the Syros ICE platform, just like Carens Clavis and its EV version.

New spy shots have revealed that the vehicle is probably being tested in South Korea, where it was seen clean at the charging station. This indicates that Kia is testing this model globally.

Features

The ICE model was already full of features, but the company could add some more new features to Syros EV. It has fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, cooled glovebox and rear ventilated seats (backrest). Also it will get the same great 30-inch Trinity Display (with two 12.3-inch and one 5-inch screens). High-end features such as Level-2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, dashcam integration and panoramic sunroof will be found together.

Battery & Range

In terms of range, the Kia Syros EV is expected to use a 40 kWh battery pack, promising a range of around 400 km. This would provide a balanced range for both urban and occasional highway driving.

Also, many mechanical elements such as single motor setup, all-four disc brakes and ICE models can be seen in it. This will keep the price under control and make it easier to build a mass-market EV.

Launch Timeline

According to reports, the Kia Syros Electric SUV is expected to be launched around 2026. Testing is steadily increasing, which can lead to the idea that Kia has reached very close to the final stage.

If this EV comes with the right pricing and great range, then in the Sub 4m electric SUV segment it can become a strong challenge for Nexon EV and other incoming EVs.
