How to Perform Lakshmi Puja on Margashirsha Purnima?

Many devotees observe a fast on Purnima. On this day, one should wake up early and take a holy bath. If possible, bathing in a sacred river is ideal, but mixing a few drops of Gangajal in regular water is also considered purifying. After cleaning the prayer area, sprinkle Gangajal and spread a clean red cloth on a wooden platform. Place the idols or images of Goddess Lakshmi along with Lord Vishnu.

During the puja, offer incense, lamp, sweets, flowers, and other offerings. Lord Vishnu is traditionally offered panchamrit, bananas, and panjiri. Goddess Lakshmi is provided lotus flowers, kheer, white sweets, makhana, and other sattvic items. At the end of the puja, distribute the prasad among all family members.

On Margashirsha Purnima, take eleven cowries and apply turmeric powder to them. Offer these cowries to Goddess Lakshmi during the puja. After completing all rituals, read the Lakshmi Chalisa and then tie the cowries in a clean red cloth. Place this bundle in your locker or wealth area. According to belief, this remedy helps resolve financial problems and invites steady prosperity.
