Suryakumar Yadav created a new record in T20 cricket for Mumbai. With the new feat, the middle-order batter is now leading a record chart surpassing other big names of Mumbai cricket. What is the record, how he achieve the record? Let’s know about it all.

Suryakumar Yadav’s new record in T20 cricket

Indian T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav has achieved a major milestone while playing for Mumbai in domestic T20 cricket. He has become Mumbai’s leading run-scorer in the T20 format, surpassing Aditya Tare and Rohit Sharma in the list of leading run-scorers. Suryakumar achieved this feat while playing against Kerala in the current season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Thanks to this innings, Suryakumar Yadav has become Mumbai’s leading run-scorer in T20 cricket. He surpassed Aditya Tare, who has 1,713 runs. He is now behind players like Shreyas Iyer (1,706) and Ajinkya Rahane (1,592). This record is also special because Rohit Sharma, the legendary Mumbai Indians captain for many years, also lags behind him in Mumbai’s domestic T20 record.

Suryakumar Yadav has scored over 1,720 runs in 71 matches. He has a strong strike rate of 145.38 and an average of 33.01, including nine half-centuries. After the early dismissal of Ayush Mhatre (03), Mumbai put themselves in a strong position with an 80-run partnership for the second wicket between Ajinkya Rahane (32) and Sarfaraz Khan (52). Mumbai were 99 for three in the 12th over and were comfortably on course for the target.

However, Asif (5/25) changed the course of the match in the 18th over. He dismissed Sairaj Patil (13), Suryakumar (32), and Shardul (0) in a single over, reducing the score to 149 for seven. Asif dismissed Shams Mulani and Hardik Tamore in the last over to end Mumbai’s innings. Thirty-two-year-old Asif has had considerable success on this Lucknow pitch this season, taking 13 wickets in four Mushtaq Trophy matches so far.

Mumbai suffered their first defeat in five matches in this T20 tournament but still lead the group with 16 points. Kerala, with their third win, moved up to third place in the five-team pool with 12 points, while Andhra is also in second place with 12 points.
