India and South Africa will play five T20 matches, for which BCCI announced the squad. Suryakumar Yadav has been named captain and Shubman Gill vice-captain against South Africa, although Gill’s availability will depend on fitness clearance. Let’s find out which players have been omitted.

These 5 players will not be seen in the T20Is against South Africa

Rinku Singh – The last series was against Australia, in which Rinku Singh was part of the team. This is the same Rinku who consistently scored runs in domestic cricket, yet was dropped from the team. Surprisingly, he only got one match on the Australia tour, which was also washed out due to rain.

Nitish Reddy – Despite returning to the Test team after recovering from injury, he was denied a place in the T20 team. Reddy was initially ruled out due to an quadriceps injury, and even now the selectors have not given him a chance. This is the player who is considered a future star all-rounder for Team India.

Mohammed Siraj – Siraj, who has played 16 T20Is, was not included in the squad this time. The selectors prioritized young pacers in limited overs cricket, while Siraj will remain a key member of the Test team. His omission clearly indicates that he is not part of the team’s plans for next year’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Yashasvi Jaiswal – Despite having 23 matches of experience, he was again left out of the team. Fans were expecting this left-handed opener’s aggressive batting, but he didn’t find a place in the squad. Shubman Gill’s place was lost because Gill opens the innings in T20s alongside Abhishek Sharma, while Jaiswal is also an opener.

Dhruv Jurel – Considered a future star, Jurel didn’t get a chance in this series. His performance in the initial T20 matches was lackluster, which affected his selection. It remains to be seen when this player will get a chance in T20. Jurel has scored just 12 runs in four matches so far. He last played in T20 in 2025 against England.
