Currently, the Indian cricket team is playing a one-day series against New Zealand, with two matches already completed. Before the third match, Virat Kohli visited the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, where he offered prayers and received blessings from the priests. Kohli wasn’t alone; he was accompanied by Indian team spinner Kuldeep Yadav and fielding coach T. Dilip. They all participated in the prayers, and sandalwood paste was applied to their foreheads.

Kohli Offers Prayers at the Temple

Virat Kohli and Kuldeep Yadav participated in the prayers upon reaching the temple premises. During this time, the temple priest applied sandalwood paste to their foreheads. A video of this is going viral on social media. When Virat Kohli came out of the temple, he was surrounded by security personnel and priests.

He greeted a reporter, saying, “Jai Shri Mahakal.” Spinner Kuldeep Yadav said that he felt very good after visiting the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple. He prayed only for success in cricket and in life. Both players arrived at the temple at 4 AM on Saturday and participated in the Bhasma Aarti. They sat in the Nandi Hall for about two hours, watching the Aarti. Even while inside the temple, the priest applied a sandalwood tilak to their foreheads.

Coach Gautam Gambhir and Rahul also sought blessings

Earlier, Indian team head coach Gautam Gambhir and wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul had also visited the temple to seek blessings. This is not the first time Virat Kohli has visited a religious place; he has visited temples many times before to seek blessings. In 2023, Virat Kohli and his wife,e Anushka Sharma, visited the temple and offered prayers.

Kohli is performing well against New Zealand.

Virat Kohli has performed exceptionally well in the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand. He played a brilliant innings of 93 runs in the Vadodara ODI played on January 11th. Kohli also set a new record by scoring 28,000 runs at the international level. In the process, he surpassed the legendary Kumar Sangakkara to become the second-highest run-scorer in international cricket. The only player ahead of him is former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar.
