Veteran Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has officially withdrawn his name from the IPL 2026 auction, bringing an end to his long-standing career in the league. Maxwell announced his decision in an emotional Instagram post, thanking the fans and franchise for their support over the years.

Glenn Maxwell said, “After several unforgettable seasons in the IPL, I have decided not to enter the auction this year. This is a big decision, and I am deeply grateful for everything this league has given me. The IPL has helped me become a better cricketer and a better person. I have been fortunate to play alongside world-class teammates, represent an incredible franchise, and perform in front of fans whose passion is unmatched. The memories, challenges, and energy of India will always be with me. Thank you all for your support. I hope to see you all soon.”

Maxwell’s performance in IPL 2025
Glenn Maxwell’s decision came after a poor performance in IPL 2025. Maxwell was acquired by Punjab Kings for ₹4.20 crore. The all-rounder represented Punjab Kings in seven matches, scoring only 48 runs. He managed four wickets.
Glenn Maxwell’s departure has increased the number of foreign players withdrawing from IPL 2026. Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali preferred the PSL over the IPL. Meanwhile, Andre Russell retired from the IPL after being released by KKR. Russell has now joined KKR as a powerhouse coach.
