Until he suffered a leg fracture during the Test series in England, he was the most successful batsman for Team India after captain Shubman Gill. Pant was expected to show similar success with the bat against South Africa, but he could only manage scores of 2(13), 27(24), 7(8) and 13(16) in four innings.
