Ladki Bahin Yojana: This is an important update for the millions of women participating in Maharashtra’s Ladki Bahin Yojana. The government had initially set a deadline for all beneficiary women to complete their e-KYC by November 18, 2025, but this has now been extended to December 31. If the process is not completed by this new deadline, the monthly payment of ₹1,500 will be forfeited.

Launched in June 2024, this scheme currently supports over 10 million women. The funds are directly transferred to their bank accounts each month through DBT. The government has stated that moving forward, payments will only be issued to women who have updated their e-KYC.

Why is e-KYC important?

The funds should only reach the rightful beneficiaries.

This will help eliminate issues such as fake applications, duplicate entries, or payments sent to incorrect accounts.

The DBT process can be further enhanced through Aadhaar authentication.

In a directive from September 2025, the government indicated that Aadhaar verification is essential for receiving any government financial benefits under Section 7 of the Aadhaar Act 2016. UIDAI has also authorized the Women and Child Development Department for Sub-AUA/Sub-KUA, allowing the department to conduct e-KYC independently.
