Ladki Bahin Yojana: Lakhs of women in Maharashtra are eagerly awaiting the next installment of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. January 2026 has already begun, but the December installment has not yet reached many accounts, causing anxiety among beneficiaries. If you completed your e-KYC by December 2025 and still haven’t received the money, don’t panic.

E-KYC Made Mandatory
The Maharashtra government has made e-KYC mandatory to bring transparency to the scheme and ensure that benefits reach only eligible women. Aditi Tatkare, Director of the Women and Child Development Department, herself appealed via social media that e-KYC must be completed by December 31, 2025, or benefits will be stopped.
The data of women who completed this process on time is now being matched with the bank and Aadhaar. Officials say that technical delays in Aadhaar seeding and bank data matching have delayed the December payment, but this disruption is only temporary.
When will the January 2026 installment arrive
The government has not yet announced an official date for the January installment, but political circles and local news are speculating. There is a strong possibility that on January 14, 2026, on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, the government may release the installments for both December and January, totaling ₹3,000. Furthermore, some experts believe that the Chief Minister’s Office may issue a firm order to release this amount immediately after the BMC elections on January 15, as the November installment was also delayed last month.
Majhi Ladki Behen Yojana
The government has set strict criteria for this scheme to ensure that only those truly in need receive assistance. Women in Maharashtra aged 21 to 65 are eligible, including married, widowed, divorced, or destitute women, and their family’s annual income must be less than ₹2.5 lakh.
There must be no income taxpayers or government employees in the family, and the household must not own any four-wheeled vehicle (except a tractor). Women with yellow or saffron ration cards do not require an income certificate, which is a significant relief, but Aadhaar linking of the bank account is mandatory.
What to do if you don’t receive your installment
If your e-KYC is complete and eligibility is correct, but the money isn’t coming, first ensure your bank account is actively linked to Aadhaar for DBT. Regularly check your application status by visiting the official website https://ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in and ensure the form doesn’t show ‘Pending’ or ‘Rejected.’ The information on your ration card, Aadhaar, and voter ID must be consistent, as even a small spelling error can prevent you from receiving your legal rights.
