Learn about this scheme, how to receive the first installment of ₹10,000, and how to receive additional assistance of up to ₹2 lakh.

The Economic Power of Women

The results of the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections have once again proven the power of the NDA wave. The NDA secured its return to power by winning a landslide victory in 202 seats out of the 243-seat assembly. Women voters played a crucial role in this extraordinary victory, and the Chief Minister’s Women’s Employment Scheme (Chief Minister’s Women’s Employment Scheme) worked wonders at this crucial juncture.

In September last year, during the auspicious days of Navratri, Prime Minister Modi transferred ₹10,000 directly to the bank accounts of 7.5 million women via video conferencing. A total of ₹7,500 crore was transferred directly into the women’s pockets in a single click. The Prime Minister proudly declared that this was not just money, but the first strong step towards empowering the women of Bihar, and this ₹10,000 amount became a key factor in the NDA’s victory.

Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana

This scheme is a key part of the Bihar government’s Jeevika project. Its primary objective is to provide financial assistance to rural women in Bihar to start small businesses.

This assistance is provided for small businesses, such as opening a shop, purchasing a sewing machine, starting a poultry farm, installing a spice grinding machine, or starting handicrafts. In the first phase, each woman was given ₹10,000 as initial assistance. If a woman successfully continues her business for six months, she can receive additional assistance of up to ₹2 lakh.

Direct benefits to 7.5 million women

This scheme only benefits women in Bihar who are associated with Jeevika Self-Help Groups (SHGs). So far, more than 7.5 million women have joined these groups. These groups bring together 10-15 women in villages, allowing them to save and access small loans to start their own businesses.

18 types of businesses have been selected under the scheme, such as grocery stores, tea shops, beauty parlors, goat rearing, mushroom cultivation, or incense stick making. Women have complete freedom to choose the work they are skilled in. An amount of ₹10,000 has been given to all women as the first installment. Now, women who run their businesses for six months will receive a substantial second installment of up to ₹2 lakh.

How to apply for the scheme

The application process for the scheme has been kept extremely simple:

First, contact your village’s Jeevika Didi and join the self-help group.

Next, fill out the form and submit it to the village organization. You can also apply online from home by visiting www.brlps.in.

At the time of application, you will need to upload your Aadhaar card, proof of residence in Bihar, a copy of your bank passbook, a passport-size photo, and the Jeevika group membership form.

The best part of this scheme is that the money is deposited directly into the woman’s account.

The government plans to enroll millions more women in this scheme in the future.

This scheme has empowered rural women by freeing them from dependence on men and making them self-reliant. Now, they are running their own businesses and earning good profits. The Chief Minister Women Entrepreneur Scheme has provided real empowerment to the women of Bihar, which laid the foundation for the spectacular electoral success of the NDA.
